Artist's Comments

A fun animation of depth of field. I was planning on just doing it vertically stacked, but decided to go animated. Kinda trippy, but fun, and interesting.

Not really a tutorial, but I got kind've irritated at explanations of depth of field. It seems that all books just have illustrations showing aperture and then a picture showing DOF, but somehow, this just clicks better. For me at least.

Sadly, you'll have to click "Download" to be able to actually see the animation instead of the preview.

The preview, I figure you should be able to see everything in more than like a second, so, yeah. There're all the individual frames (like I had originally planned instead of the animation). Either way.

And I don't know what the deal is with the color balance on the first two shots. No clue and I'm too lazy to figure it out.

Canon 350D
Canon 100mm f/2.0 USM
Focused on the rim of the front element, a shade over 4 feet on the lens distance scale.
Bad tripod and no cable release

You are not your job. You are not how much you have in the bank. You are not the contents of your wallet. You are not your khakis. You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. The things you own end up owning you

Thanks. I got frustrated with other examples and made my own. Plus, it was a fun thing to do in the middle of the night.

Thank you! Stupid illustrations don't do the same job a photo can do.
